Global Business in an Emerging Democracy

Community Colleges for International Development, Inc.(CCID) and its three member colleges: Muscatine Community College (Muscatine, IA), Santa Fe Community College (Gainesville, FL) and Tompkins Cortland Community College [TC3] (Dryden, NY) have been working together to offer this program to their students as well as others interested in learning about current business and economic issues in Ukraine.

CCID is a 32-year old non-profit consortium of over 160 two-year U.S. and foreign colleges that builds global relationships to strengthen educational programs and promote economic development. The 9,000 faculty at CCID colleges educate more than 750,000 students in 400 technical fields and university transfer programs.

Drohobych State Pedagogical University in Drohobych, Ukraine is located in the city of Drohobych (droh-ho-bich) in western Ukraine. It lies in the region of the seond largest city in Ukraine - Lviv (l-veeu). The University offered to be our in-country partner, assisting us with the development of the program content, in-country logistics and overall programmatic support. The University was originally established as a Pedagogial Institute in 1940. It was not until 1998 when it was re-organized into the university. The College of Management and Marketing was established in 1992. At present time, the university comprises 12 colleges and 46 departments training future teachers in 50 majors and minors.

Eligibility: Participants must:
  • be 18 years of age or older.
  • be in good standing with home college.
  • demonstrate college-level reading, writing, and math skills.
  • be prepared and motivated for a cross-cultural experience.
Delivery Formats: Field trips, lectures, independent study.
Housing: Local hotel equipped to European standard, with shared rooms and facilities

Completed online application, signed Waiver and a $200 non-refundable deposit are due to be considered for a program.


March 12, 2010 -
Payment of program fee due in-full to qualify for placement in program.
