Transcultural Nursing - May
General Program Outline
First week with the nursing students at the Central University Ecuador in Quito. We will spend time in clinicals in the government and private hospitals and informal time with the nursing students exchanging ideas and comparing nursing education and practice.
Second week will be spent in a Quichua town in the rain forest learning about health beliefs and culture of the Quichua people. Also experiencing traditional healthcare and natural medicines made from plants. Also will work medical staff and mobile health unit. Learning about how men, women and children live in the rain forest.
In addition, we will also tour some of the local tourist type activities, such as zoos, shopping, equator, churches, etc.
